All of the Elk hunts are conducted in quality units located in New Mexico on the Gila/Apache National Forest. These units have been recognized for producing excellent trophies year after year.

Bow hunts take place the first three weeks of September, which allows the opportunity to hunt a majestic bull elk during the rut. Close encounters with just a string and razor is an unmatched adrenaline rush.

Rifle and muzzleloader hunts are spread throughout October and November. Early October mornings still buzz with bugling bulls. While the chance of calling still exists, spot and stalk methods of hunting become more effective. Click here to check the draw odds for units 16A, 16D and 15.

Deadline to apply for NM public draw is March 28, 2011         NM Game and Fish

Whether it is an elusive Mule Deer or that wary Coues buck your searching for, Eric Kern Outfitters can help. We take only a few hunters each year on public and/or private land that has been managed for quality deer herds.

Muzzleloader seasons begin the last week of September or the last week of October depending on the unit. Because these are some of the first deer hunts of the year, a hunter has the opportunity at bucks that have yet to be pressured.

Rifle hunts occur in late October and continue through November. This time of year bucks are usually in bachelor groups and spend most of there time feeding and resting in preparation for the upcoming rut. During these hunts we let our eyes do the walking by taking advantage of quality optics.

Bow hunts take place the first two weeks of January when the deer are in full rut. Changes in movement patterns of bucks along with the opportunity for calling/rattling rutting bucks make this hunt action packed.

Most of these species require a hunter to apply through the NM public draw system. The application deadline is March 28, 2011. Contact me today for more information and prices on these hunts.
